ONYX

Northern Raven [Corvus Corax]

3.3 – 4.9 ft. Wingspan

Onyx came to us in 2014 as an adult bird who had been hit by a car.  Unfortunately the folks who found her were given some bad advice and kept her for two weeks before getting her to a vet.  In that time Onyx’s broken wing had healed incorrectly.

As we got to know her we began to suspect that Onyx may have had contact with humans before being hit by a car.  She showed a mix of normal, wild raven and captive raven behaviors.  Ravens are very complex and intelligent birds, we may never be able to figure out her history vs. what she decided to adapt to.
