Eastern Garter Snake Thamnophis sirtalis

Average Adult Length +/- 2 Feet

Toto the Garter Snake was found injured near Burlington Vermont. He had been "The snake under the steps" and popular with the family under whose steps he lived. They noticed he was injured and brought him to a wildlife rehabilitator in a picnic basket. After months of care and physical therapy she felt that he was not going to be able to survive int he wild. and he was sent here. Museum staff was immediately struck by how curious and engaging he was. This charismatic little snake is an excellent ambassador for one of the most commonly seen snakes in North America.
